My Ultimate Travel Bucket List for the Next 5 Years

My Ultimate Travel Bucket List for the Next 5 Years

Big dreams, meaningful experiences, and the adventures I want to make happen. If you are like me and love travelling, you will probably have some kind of Travel Bucket List. Throughout the last two years I could tik of multiple Country and Things of mine for example my 2 Week Vietnam trip that you can read more about in this post.

In this Blogpost I want to write about what is on my list for the next five years and maybe down the line I can come back to this and see what I did and saw or how it changed in any way. And if you have a bucket list yourself, please let me know in the comments what is on yours.

1. See the Northern Lights in Norway or Iceland

The northern lights are one of the most mesmerizing and awe-inspiring natural wonders on Earth. Their swirling colors and otherworldly glow have captivated me for as long as I can remember. Fun fact: I’m so fascinated by the aurora that I even have a tattoo of the northern lights—a little reminder of the magic they hold and how much they continue to inspire me.

2. Go on a Safari in Kenya or Tanzania

Going on a safari and witnessing wildlife up close—hopefully even the Big Five—would truly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. I grew up watching The Lion King, and ever since then I’ve dreamed of exploring the savannas in real life. The idea of seeing these incredible animals in their natural habitat feels like stepping into a childhood fantasy I’ve carried with me for years.

3. Visit Petra and Camp in Wadi Rum (Jordan)

Jordan has such a rich and vibrant history, and its ancient sites—especially Petra—have always fascinated me. I also want to experience the country’s incredible natural wonders, from floating effortlessly in the salty waters of the Dead Sea to exploring the dramatic red-sand landscapes of Wadi Rum. It’s a destination that feels both timeless and otherworldly, and I can’t wait to see it all in person.

4. Eat Ceviche in Peru

I have already tried Ceviche in Mexico which you can read in my 2 week Yucatan itiniary but Peru as a whole is still very high on my travel list. Not just for ceviche—the country’s national dish—but also for its incredible history, vibrant culture, and stunning natural landscapes. The photos and stories from friends who have already visited never fail to amaze me, and I can’t wait to experience Peru for myself someday.

5. Experience Japan

Japan is on almost everyone’s list of must-visit countries, and for me, it’s no different. Two of the biggest draws are sushi and ramen—both among my favorite foods. But it’s not just the cuisine that captivates me. I’m fascinated by Japan’s unique blend of ancient traditions and cutting-edge technology, where serene temples coexist with bustling futuristic cities. Experiencing that harmony firsthand is something I’ve always dreamed of.

6. Hike the Dolomites

Living in Switzerland, I’m used to spending my summers hiking through breathtaking landscapes. But the Dolomites, with their unique and spectacular mountain peaks, are on a whole different level. Their dramatic scenery makes them a must-have on my travel bucket list for the next five years—I can’t wait to explore their trails and take in the views in person.

7. See Penguins in Patagonia

Patagonia recently came onto my radar, and I immediately knew it had to be on my travel bucket list. It’s far off the typical traveler’s route, but its raw, untamed nature is absolutely mesmerizing. On top of that, Patagonia is home to incredible wildlife—including one of my favorite animals, penguins—which makes visiting feel like a dream come true.

8.  Visit China

I’ve never been particularly drawn to China in general, but everything changed when I watched a travel vlog from Joel and Emilia (linked) about its rural areas and natural landscapes. Being, as you might have noticed, a nature lover, I immediately knew I had to add it to my travel bucket list. The idea of exploring China’s hidden corners and breathtaking scenery is incredibly exciting to me.

9. Explore the Mountains of Kazakhstan

Staying in the category of amazing natural landscapes, Kazakhstan immediately caught my attention. Beyond its stunning scenery, another reason I’m drawn to this country is that I know very little about it—its culture, its people, and its hidden gems. Exploring Kazakhstan feels like stepping into a truly undiscovered adventure.

10. Spend Christmas in London

I absolutely love London, as you can read in my London Guide, and I’ve been there several times. But I’ve never experienced the city in December during the Christmas season. I’ve seen pictures of the incredible decorations and sparkling lights all over London, and I can’t wait to finally see the festive magic in person.

I’m so excited to see what experiences the next five years of travel will bring me, and I hope this post inspires you to either add destinations to your own bucket list or even start one from scratch. I’d love to hear what’s on your list—share it in the comments!
