Main airports close to social hubs often cost more than smaller ones. If the Transportation time does not bother you compare the price of the secondary airport with the transportation cost. Sometimes you really can save big time.

Not Checking Visa or Entry Requirements

Unexpected or last minute fees are not only very annoying and stressful they can be very expensive. Check all requirement month in advance So you will not be to late to apply to any document that you need.

Always compare the cost from taxis, public transport and ride shares. I even compare the costs from flights and hotel vs overnight transport. You can use trip planning apps and transport apps to research all available options.

By only staying in the tourist hotspots, you not only will miss out on some truly authentic memories it also comes with a premium price tag. I try to spend not to much time in only in social hubs and if I do I check for save neighborhoods a little bit outside the center that still has good transportation.

I get it currency exchange at the airport is very convenient and you know that it is legit, but they often have the worst rates and very high fees. My tip is to exchange money at home.
